Couples struggling with fertility sometimes assume that it’s somehow the woman the one facing some fertility issues. But more than 40% of the times its the man bringing challenges to the fertility journey…. and most of the times those challenges can be easily fixed if treated on time. Taking care of the quality of the sperm is very important not only to get pregnant, but to have a healthy full term pregnancy. Good sperm would help with different pregnancy complications, like miscarriage for example. A simple and delicious fertility smoothie every morning can help improve sperm count, sperm motility and sperm morphology.

Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:
1 banana
2 tbsp raw cacao nibs
2.5 oz raw walnuts
3 oz dried gogi berries
3 grams powdered maca root
About 3/4 cup almond milk

Cacao nibs (raw cocoa)- high in L-Arginine, an important amino acid that increases sperm count and improves sperm quality.

Maca– a Peruvian root vegetable, ground into a fine powder.  It is a powerful hormone regulator.  It increases sperm count and volume, improves motility, and is a great libido booster.

Bananas– great source of Vit B and bromelain.  These improve libido and increase sperm production. Also contain high amounts of magnesium, and manganese which are important for a healthy prostate.

      Hi Vasi!
      Here is the full recipe:
      1 banana
      2 tbsp raw cacao nibs
      2.5 oz raw walnuts
      3 oz dried gogi berries
      3 grams powdered maca root
      About 3/4 cup almond milk

Everything is available at Whole Foods or local natural food co-ops. The cacao nibs, walnuts, and gogi berries are usually available in the bulk section. In some stores, the maca root powder is also available in bulk in some food co-ops, but not always. You can definitely find it in the supplement sections of health food stores.

      Hope that helps!
