5 things YOU should be doing to get pregnant FAST

If you are facing some fertility challenges or just trying to get pregnant fast,  there are 6 easy home remedies I recommend to my clients trying to get pregnant (both at my San Diego clinics or the ones I see on my online consultations). Let’s get started:

1.  Vaginal Steam Bath

Vaginal steam baths are used to assist in the cleansing of the uterus in conjunction with the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy for the treatment of numerous female symptoms.

The formulation of a vaginal steam bath consists of aromatic, cleansing herbs that will penetrate into the uterine wall. The therapeutic effects of thermotherapy and aromatherapy contribute to the effectiveness of this treatment. Overall the bath aids as a uterine lavage or internal cleanse of the membranes that often accumulate incompletely flushed debris/fluids from cycle to cycle. In addition, the bath introduces healing warmth and softens and nourishes internal membranes.

Watch this step by step tutorial on how to do a vaginal steam.

The baths can safely be combined with either natural cycles or any cycle involving assisted reproductive technology such as IUI or IVF.

Consider adding vaginal steam baths to your self care routine if you experience:

  • Painful periods
  • Dark blood at the beginning or ending of your menstrual cycle
  • Irregular periods
  • Fibroids
  • Cysts
  • Endometriosis
  • Cervical stenosis
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Painful intercourse

2. Maya Abdominal Massage

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™ (ATMAT) is a modern adaptation of ancient Mayan healing techniques that adds modern knowledge of anatomy, physiology and herbology.

It is a noninvasive, massage technique that gently manipulates the muscles and connective tissue that hold the organs in place. The intention is to guide organs to their proper position, releasing physical and emotional congestion and blockages.

When organs such as a tilted uterus are in proper position, they are open to receiving all of nutrient-rich/oxygen blood available, while increasing detoxifying lymphatic flow, nerve impulses and chi.

3. Take the right supplements

In an ideal world, we’d get all the nutrients we need from the food we eat, right? The truth is, it’s not like that anymore.

With the evolution of our modern world, there are increasing external factors separating us from getting our daily intake of nutrients to create a healthy fertile body. In order to support our journey to a healthy pregnancy, we need to help our bodies!

How do we do it? By EMPOWERING it by taking the best natural supplements.

But how do you know the ones you are taking are working for you? What if I told you that not all supplements are the same… and you might be wasting your money? What if the supplements you are taking are doing the opposite of supporting your fertility?

Think of how much time, energy and money you spend on supporting your health and what if your supplement intake isn’t adding to your health?

Our cells need to be revitalized and nourished – sometimes I call this giving them LOVE! I want to make sure you are giving your body the right kind of love to support your fertility!

To make things easy I put together this video where I go over the MUST 5 supplements when you are trying to get pregnant.

In “The Fantastic 5 of Fertility Supplements” you’ll learn:

1. What are the Fantastic 5 for Fertility and why you should start taking them today!
2.We’ll talk about the supplements you are taking.
3.I’ll tell you where you can get the Fantastic 5 supplements online.
4. We’ll go over what supplements to avoid as they can be harming your fertility.
5. We’ll go over some EXTRA Fertility Empowering Techniques to do at home.

4. Feed your Fertility

Pretty much all my patients do a fertility detox when they start care with me. It’s important to reset their body and start fresh. If you’ve been taking medication, birth control, done an IVF cycle, being eating without thinking in your fertility… it’s time you consider doing a fertility detox. The Reset Fertility Detox is a healthy detox to reset your fertility and nourish your body, with food (you’ll eat, not just drink juices!) and cleansing supplements.

This program is for those who have been struggling with fertility, have gone through 1 or more IUI’s and IVF cycles, digestive issues, weight loss, or fatigue. It’s very supportive for individuals who undergo a lot of stress and for women who want a healthier environment for their future baby. Stress, environmental and food toxins, medication, and birth control, can cause a toxic build up in the body. If you’ve been trying for more than 3 months, the Reset Fertility Detox is your first step!

It includes: Cleansing Products Kit, Members site, Video Tutorials, Recipes & Detox Guidelines, Community Access,…

If you are not ready to commit to a 21 day detox (really??) what about starting with adding one of my favorite drinks. That one EVERYBODY is talking about: Bone broth. Bone broth is a super food, and it can help you with your fertility. Here are some of the reasons I LOVE bone broth and I recommend to all my patients:

Bone broth contains amino acids, is extremely rich in minerals needed for boosting fertility.
Helps heal and seal your intestinal tract lining which promotes healthy digestion
The gelatin found in bone broth attracts and retains liquids, including digestive liquids, which supports healthy digestion.
Inhibits infection caused by colds and viruses.
Reduces joint pain and inflammation from chondroitin sulphates and glucosamine from the boiled down cartilage and bare bones.
Combats inflammation- Amino acids such as glycine, proline, and arginine all have anti-inflammatory effects. Arginine has been  discovered to be predominantly beneficial for the treatment of sepsis (whole-body inflammation).
Glycine has relaxing effects which can help you sleep better.
Encourages strong, healthy bones- bone broth contains high quantities of calcium, magnesium, and other nutrients that play an imperative role in healthy bone development.
Encourages healthy hair and nail growth, due to gelatin.

I recommend drinking a daily cup to my patients. BUT be careful! It is very important that you only make/buy bone broth if it is organic, grass fed, gluten/soy/dairy free with no additives, preservatives or colorants.

If you are not drinking bone broth because you don’t want to deal with the bones, this is where I purchase mine. Here are the brands I recommend to my patients and I drink myself.

Extra points if you do this too…

Femoral Artery Massage

This exercise increases blood flow to the pelvic organs, providing more nourishment to the uterus and ovaries.  (This massage may be more effectively performed by a partner)

STEP 1: Feel for the femoral artery with your fingertips. The femoral artery is a large artery just beneath the crease in your groin. It is located between your thigh and lower abdomen in the inguinal crease. Try to locate this artery by using the pads of your fingers, and with moderate pressure, search for a pulsing sensation.

STEP 2: Once you find the pulse at the femoral artery, compress or occlude the artery by pressure with your forearm, or by pressing with the heel of your hands.

STEP 3: Hold the artery closed for 30 to 45 seconds.  The blood is now backing up and increasing pressure in the iliac arteries, forcing more blood into the pelvic arteries and flooding the pelvic organs with more blood.

STEP 4: After 30-45 seconds, release the pressure and let the blood flow normally.  When the hold is released, you should feel a sensation of warmth rushing down your leg as the blood supply returns to the lower extremity.

STEP 5: Repeat on the opposite side.

Perform this femoral massage sequence three times in a row, twice a day, up to ovulation (or the day before embryo transfer, not beyond).**Note:  Do not perform this femoral massage if you are or might be pregnant. Also, if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, circulatory problems, or a history of strokes or detached retinas, do not practice this technique.

Castor Oil Pack

Castor oil has a long history of traditional medical use dating back to ancient Egypt. Derived from the castor bean (Ricinus communis), the oil was once used internally as a laxative but is now primarily used externally due to its potential toxicity.

How it works: A castor oil pack is placed on the skin to increase circulation and to promote elimination and healing of the tissues and organs underneath the skin. It is used to stimulate the liver, relieve pain, increase lymphatic circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve digestion.

How it is made : Castor oil packs are made by soaking a piece of flannel in castor oil and placing it on the skin. The flannel is covered with plastic, and then a hot water bottle or heating pad is placed over the plastic to heat the pack.

A castor oil pack can be placed on the following body regions:

  • The right side of the abdomen to stimulate the liver. (Often recommended as part of a liver detox program)
  • Inflamed and swollen joints, bursitis, and muscle strains.
  • The abdomen to relieve constipation and other digestive disorders.
  • The lower abdomen in cases of Menstrual Irregularities. Endometriosis, Infertility, and Cysts.

Safety precautions: Castor oil should not be taken internally. It should not be applied to broken skin, or used during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or during menstrual flow.

Materials Needed

  • An old dish towel or old towel cut into the shape of a dish towel
  • Castor oil
  • A piece of Plastic wrap cut 1-2″ larger than the flannel (A plastic bag like the kind used for produce at the grocery store can be used instead of plastic wrap)
    • A Hot water bottle or Heating Pad
    • A Container with a lid or a plastic bag (to store the used pack in between uses)
    • Old clothes and sheets.  **Warning: Castor oil will stain clothing and bedding**

Place the flannel in a bowl or basin. Soak it in castor oil so that it becomes saturated, but not dripping.

Place the pack over the affected body part. (In most cases, the lower abdomen just above the pubic bone)
Once the oil-soaked flannel is in place, cover it with plastic. (Either Cling Wrap or a Plastic Bag may be used)
Place the hot water bottle or heating pad over the pack. Rest with the pack in place for 45-60 minutes.

After removing the pack, cleanse the area with a dilute solution of water and baking soda.
Store the pack in the covered container in the refrigerator. Each pack may be reused up to 3 to 4 times.

Frequency of use

Use as recommended by your acupuncturist or health care provider. Castor oil packs are not universally beneficial, but are required to treat certain specific disorders. Your acupuncturist will let you know if castor packs are recommended for your condition.

In My Fertility School, the 6 weeks online eCourse to help you empower your fertility, you’ll find step by step tutorials on how to do a fertility abdominal massage.

Moxa is a plan that is used as a heat source to stimulate acupuncture points. Although acupuncture is better known in the West, moxibustion has also been used in traditional treatments for over 2000 years in China and is in fact the second part of the name for acupuncture in the Chinese language. The moxa we usually provide as part of our treatments is in the form of a moxa stick and has been compressed into a cigar-like roll that makes it ideal for use at home.

How to use the moxa stick

Simply light one end with a cigarette lighter. When the stick is correctly lit, you will be able to hold the lit end two to three centimeters from the back of your hand and feel a pleasant radiating warmth.

Hold the lit end of the stick over the area to be treated, maintaining a distance of at least two to three centimeters so that there is never any direct contact with the skin.

The moxa stick is then moved slowly over the area being treated, this will begin to feel pleasantly warm.

To enhance your fertility, here is a general easy move you can do to yourself:

  1. Place the stick close to your navel and move it down to your pubic bone.
  2. Repeat the movement slowly up and down, until the area is pink and warm.

This therapy should be done daily to increase your results. There are other ways and areas to apply moxa to enhance your fertility, but those would depend on your specific case and condition.
