PROFILE: Dr. Rakoff

Dr. Rakoff is recognized as one of the leading advanced fertility care specialists in the U.S.

Dr. Rakoff received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA., with speciality training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California San Diego.

Following his residency, Dr. Rakoff completed a certified Research Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Upon completion of this fellowship, he served as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, stationed at Madigan Army Medical Center, where he was the Division Head of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Dr. Rakoff specializes in Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ART) such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and Infertility Surgery. Dr. Rakoff has been at the forefront of advanced fertility care for more than 25 years.

Dr. Rakoff established the Scripps Clinic Fertility Center in 1979 where he launched the In Vitro Fertilization Program in 1983. This center was the first in San Diego to be dedicated exclusively to providing infertile couples with medical services, and the first IVF program to successfully deliver a baby in San Diego through IVF.

Currently, Dr. Rakoff is a staff member of the Scripps Clinic Medical Group in La Jolla. Dr. Rakoff is board certified by, and a member of, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a charter member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rakoff teaches at various residency programs and serves as a clinical preceptor to physicians from around the country who are interested in IVF and Infertility Surgery. Dr. Rakoff has participated in research studies in assisted reproduction, has lectured extensively at both local and national infertility conferences, and has authored and published over 27 scientific papers and articles on IVF, Uterine Fibroids and Endocrine Dysfunction.

Today, with his work in ART, blastocyst culture and transfer, egg donor IVF, infertility surgery and ovulation induction, Dr. Rakoff continues to remain a leader in the field of advanced fertility care.
